We are very excited to finally announce that work is set to begin on our pedestrian underpass connecting our trail system from Eastland and the Barn Yard right next to Light Farms Elementary! The new underpass will provide a safe crossing for our kiddos to get to and from school or for our runners to explore a different route without having to cross over the tracks.
In order for get the tunnel installed without disrupting the train schedule, work will begin this Thursday, September 28th at 5am and will need to last until approximately 5pm. A large crane and trenching machinery will be working diligently to get the area prepared as quickly as possible, but please be aware that there will be some unfamiliar sounds and activity starting early that day. If you get the opportunity, take a look at the work being done, it should be an impressive operation.
The coordination effort between several groups of people in order to make this happen has been extraordinary, and nearly two years in the making. We are happy to be able to bring you this exciting news and look forward to updating you on the progress of this, and many other great things happening in Light Farms!
