Sure, this recently developed town may lack the historical landmarks of Austin or Houston, but this rapidly growing area doesn’t have any shortage of things to do for all ages. Here are some popular events in Celina, Texas that you should check out this winter!
1. Dinosaurs Live
Where? Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary, 1 Nature Pl, McKinney, TX 75069
When? Tuesday through Sunday until Feb. 18, 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. (Sundays 1-5 p.m.)
How Much? Adults $12; Kids $9 (Free for museum members)
Step back in time at the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney and meet the gigantic dinosaurs that once roamed the planet. Featuring a 46-foot T-Rex and nine life-size animatronic dinosaurs, head over to this family-friendly historical extravaganza — now in its 13th year. With photo-ops, play areas, and an outdoor fossil dig, it feels like “Jurassic Park” has come to life!
2. Cheese Making
Where? Collin County Farm Museum, 7117 Co Rd 166, McKinney, TX 75071
When? Jan. 29, 6-7.30 p.m.
How Much? $20
Teach your kids (seven years and up) how to make their own delicious grub at this cheese making event, where students learn the basics of mouth-watering soft cheeses and the correct milk to use. Plus, there are plenty of opportunities for a family photo opp. Say cheese!
3. Classics on the Square
Where? MPCA Center (Old Courthouse), McKinney (111 Tennessee – Downtown McKinney)
When? Jan 26 and Feb 23, 7.30-10.30 a.m.
How Much? Free
See some of the world’s most colorful classic cars at Classics on the Square, which takes place on the last Saturday of the month, from 7.30-10.30 a.m. People of all ages can grab a bite of breakfast and check out vehicles from yesteryear.
4. Friday Night Market
Where? 302 West Walnut, Celina, Texas 75009
When? March 1, 6-9 p.m.
How Much? Free
Celebrate the end of winter and the beginning of spring at one of the best events in Celina, Texas — the famous Friday Night Market! Here, you can gorge on street food from local vendors and enjoy a glass of wine (or two!). There will also be live music and a laid-back atmosphere, making it great fun for the whole family.
