At Light Farms we love our green space, and no neighborhood is complete without a park. As we continue with new home construction in our three newest neighborhoods – Hazel, Parkview and Hawthorne – we are also putting the finishing touches on their parks. Read on to learn about each of them!
As you drive into Parkview and Hawthorne, the first thing you’ll see is Mill Park at the entrance between these neighborhoods. Mill Park’s main feature is Stockwell Pond, which features a fountain, and will eventually be stocked with bluegill and perch for catch-and-release fishing. It’ll be perfect for you and your buddies to grab some snacks and your poles and head on down for some serious R&R.
In our Parkview neighborhood, a long, tree-lined esplanade called Greenway Park sits along Parkview Boulevard. The esplanade features tree-lined paths, shaded benches and open green spaces, perfect for neighborhood gatherings. We’re also planning for color-changing uplighting in each of the trees along the esplanade to add a super cool touch to your nighttime walks or when you’re just hanging out with the family. And, we’re going to have events in the green space, starting with our big Spring event this April! (Stay tuned for details on that.)
Just south of Parkview, along the trail that stretches all the way down to Frontier Parkway, is a pocket park which features a tire swing, rope nets and climbing bars for play, as well as benches for a break from your jog. The park also overlooks our newest lake system in both directions and has some really breathtaking views. Speaking of the lakes, this lake system is over 11 acres in total – to give you an idea, the smallest lake of this system is larger than the lake that sits next to your Information Center.
And last but certainly not least, Almanac Park, which sits in the middle of our Hazel neighborhood, is landscaped with trees and native grasses & plants that frame the winding trails and playground. But the most unique feature of Almanac Park is the wooden spiral, made up of a series of short wooden logs stacked on the cut ends, perfect for sitting or just wandering through the spiral. This park also has swings! They’ve already been a HUGE hit with kiddos from all over the community.
At Light Farms, parks, trails and playgrounds surrounded by trees and native plants and grasses are nearby, no matter which neighborhood you choose. So get outside and enjoy them! And stay tuned for next week’s feature in our series Explore the Park of Light Farms. Until then, we’ll see you at the park. #lovelightfarms #getoutdoors
