His books have instilled the love of reading in young readers for generations.

Light Farms is proud to help its residents continue this love of reading with the creation of the Light Farms’ Little Free Library Book Exchange. The idea behind this global book exchange program is to provide community members of all ages with 24/7 access to a variety of books.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Dr. Seuss

How the Book Exchange Works

The rules of the book exchange, based on good faith of the community, are quite simple. Just head out to the Little Free Community Library, on Homestead Court, and leaf through the book selection. Once you find a book that piques your interest, pick it up, take it home, and enjoy reading it. It’s that easy. No library card or late fees to worry about, just pick a book and take it with you. Once you’re done reading the book, return it to the community library and choose your next book.

Why Residents at Light Farms Love the Little Free Library

One of the best benefits of this community book exchange is that it will introduce you to books and genres you may otherwise overlook. In fact, according to the Little Free Library organization, 75 percent of the participants in the free book exchange program said that they had read books that they probably wouldn’t have read otherwise.

Organizers of Light Farm’s Little Free Library used profits from a book sale held in 2016 purchase the library. They then partnered with the community developer to have it installed. The registered Little Free Community Library opened for “business” on February 26, 2018, and is available to all members of the Little Farms community. Since the book exchange operates on a self-serve basis, residents have access to free books 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
