Our favorite radio personality is now a resident! Read on to learn more about Ben Rogers and family and how they found the home of their dreams at Light Farms!
Q: Where did you live before Light Farms?
We lived in North Dallas/Prestonwood. Our kids would have eventually gone to JJ Pearce High School in Richardson.
Q: What made you decide to relocate to Light Farms?
We noticed the seller’s market in Prestonwood was heating up big time. Merely out of curiosity, we decided to dip our toes in the water to see if we could make some money on the sale of our house. We had lived there for a decade and loved it, but couldn’t help ourselves. We had to learn about our options. Well, our house ended up selling at asking price, sight unseen by the buyers, the night before it even went on the market. It was instantaneous. And everything we could’ve reasonably hoped for. At that point we were essentially free agents. We could have chosen anywhere in the Metroplex to live. We looked hard at many different areas, doing extensive research, and while most of the communities we considered had wonderful things to offer, none of them offered all of awesome benefits of Light Farms. From the phenomenal schools, to the stellar value, to the down home country charm, to the ridiculous amenities, to the convenience of being right off the Tollway, to the massive kiddo population, to the tremendous sense of community… we absolutely fell in love and quickly realized that nothing else in the Metroplex came close to offering as much to our family. It was a no brainer.
Q: What was it about Light Farms that made it the right fit?
It just felt like home. Kids playing everywhere, unbelievable family-friendly amenities, stocked ponds, swimming pools, farmer’s markets, outdoor concerts, golf carts… During the house shopping process our kids didn’t want to leave Light Farms. Everywhere else we shopped, they were constantly tugging at our arms to leave. But they wanted to stay and play in Light Farms. We knew that was a fantastic sign. As a young family, it was an instant fit. It was as if Light Farms was designed exclusively off of our personal check list. It had everything we could ever want and more. Choosing Light Farms was one of the easiest and most rewarding decisions we’ve ever made as a family.
Q: Tell us about how you met.
I met my wife at a restaurant after a softball game in the mid-nineties. She was a gorgeous waitress and I was instantly smitten. I had no game whatsoever, so I asked her to join our co-ed softball team (which didn’t exist). Somehow, I was able to get her phone number and the rest is history.
Q: What is your family’s favorite thing to do together?
That’s a tough question. The easy answer is that we love doing everything together. When I’m away traveling for business, I miss them terribly. On the weekends, both of our boys play tournament baseball so that keeps us pretty busy. We really enjoy watching movies, going out to eat and playing ANY sport together. Since we moved to Light Farms, our new favorite thing to do is just hang out with the families in our cul-de-sac and watch all of our kids play. It’s extremely peaceful.
Q: What are your favorite Light Farms amenities?
I think the pool is our favorite. Especially after looking into the price of buying our own pool. LOL Goodness, that’s extreme. I found it much more reasonable to just buy a golf cart and DRIVE over to the four resort-like dream pools. My guess if that our kids would say they like the dive-in movies and the basketball courts best. We love all the fun family stuff that happens in the Barn Yard too, from the Halloween party to the water slides to the hot air balloons to the concerts. There’s always something awesome happening there. Soon we’ll dust off the fishing poles and see what we can catch in those stocked ponds too.
