Resident Spotlight: The Johnson Family

By August 7, 2015 No Comments

Read our recent resident spotlight on The Johnson Family, Adam & Rebekah and their two boys, who live in neighborhood Bluestem and love calling Light Farms home!

Q: Where did you live before Light Farms?
We lived in the Savannah neighborhood along 380 in Aubrey for 4 years.

Q:  How did you find Light Farms?
Several of our family members are long-time Celina residents and they noted a new development. I (Adam) knew instantly that it was where I wanted our family to be and I just wasn’t going to hear otherwise. So over the course of that year or so, we kept an eye on the progress and routinely checked in on the website and adjusted the sale of our current house accordingly.

Q: What was it about Light Farms that made it the right fit?
Location, price point and the timing of Phase 1. Location wise, Light Farms is in the school district and city we wanted to be in and raise our two boys in, especially with Rebekah just beginning her teaching at Rucker Elementary, and coming from Pilot Point, the town where she grew up. Light Farms and Prosper are in what we thought was a very valuable location from a real estate perspective. Also, it was close to each of our families who live in Prosper, Celina and Plano, and close to the church we attend.

Q: Tell us about how you met.
We met in a teacher certification summer course. I was going to have a PK4-6 grade PE class and coach high school football & track, and Rebekah was going to teach elementary school. On the first morning of the summer, in a cafeteria filled with a few hundred people, I noticed her arrival a few tables down from where I was. We did the whole catch glances a few times and after about the third time, I said ok this is not a drill. I had some leverage on what certification I could get being that I dealt with every age, so I simply waited to see which group she stayed in when we split up into groups, risked creeper status, and changed my certification course to be with her group. I set by her for the next month, we were engaged in 4 months, married within a year of meeting and here we are six years later.

Q: What is your family’s favorite thing to do together?
Most of the time we spend hanging out around the house or with each other’s family, getting our Netflix on, going to the park, taking drives and playing ‘hey cow’ with the longhorns. With it being a guys’ house, there’s a lot of wrestling, make believe super hero wars, etc. When we’re able to, Rebekah and I both have creative outlets/hobbies. She’s into decorating, DIY, furniture painting & restoration and she helps me a lot in my interests in creative video and music. We often watch sports together, especially college football, as I played football in college and she grew up loving football and was an athlete as well.

Q: Top 3 things you love about Light Farms?
-We love our home. (American Legend)
-We love the sense of community pride in the neighborhood and that Rebekah will be teaching at Light Farms Elementary. (And that the boys will be there in a few years!)
-We love that it is (for the moment) within walking distance of the countryside.
