Out & About in Celina Part II: Local Business

By February 2, 2017 No Comments

Here is part two of our three-part weekly series featuring some of the great things about Celina, with this article focusing on local businesses. Celina is home to so many local businesses that offer all sorts of services and products to the people of Celina, which is just one reason why we – and our residents – love calling Light Farms home!

In 2016, Annie Jack Design & General Store opened in the historic Nelson Hotel building while Willow House Boutique found a new owner and Jimbo’s Pizza Place moved to its new location on Walnut Street. Other businesses located downtown include Grace Bridge Resale Shop, offering clothing, shoes, accessories and household goods with the proceeds benefitting Grace Bridge Food Pantry and Celina Flowers and Gifts which provide floral for any occasion. Got bugs? Stampede Pest Control is your go to. And, if you’re really wanting to cool off, you can count on Hauk Custom Pools to build your dream custom pool or even help with service, maintenance and repair… and for a cool treat to go along with that Summer dip (we know it’s February but we can dream, right?!), check out Firehouse Snowballs for some killer shaved ice!

In the way of restaurants and wineries, Celina has you covered, featuring Lucy’s on the Square, a down home restaurant serving American homestyle classics; Papa Gallo’s Mexican Grill, featuring great Mexican food (and margaritas!); and Burger Fixins if you’re in the mood for a casual burger & fries, all located in the downtown area. Celina’s own Eden Hill Winery and Carmela Winery not only produce delicious wine, but also team up with area businesses, communities and individuals in offering tours and tastings. If you’re in the mood for a coffee fix, try Ground Up Coffee.

Celina’s above state average median household income, combined with an unemployment rate significantly below the state average, is already having a positive impact on business initiatives. Food chains including McDonald’s, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, Sonic Srive-In, Domino’s Pizza, Taco Bell and Subway have already taken up residence in Celina. Lamar National Mortgage recently opened a branch on Pecan Street and national retail stores Tractor Supply Company and Ace Hardware are slated to open in 2017.

There are so many businesses, restaurants and local services within Celina, no wonder so many people are making the move out here… and those who are here, have planted firm roots and love calling Celina home. Stay tuned for our next installment of Out & About in Celina!
